United StatesThere are people in your life who deserve an authentic and heart-felt “shout out” but may feel awkward if you gave them a present or sent fancy flowers. These little ribbons are great for letting someone know that you think they are awesome without overwhelming (or embarrassing) them with your praise. I recently gave one of these ribbons to my Hematologist when I learned he will be moving out of state. Six years ago, he led a team of doctors who saved my life with their excellent medical care when I was suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia and required a bone marrow transplant. What do you say when there are no words (beyond the two obvious ones: thank you.) Knowing he and his family are going through the difficult process of packing up, I didn’t want to add another “thing” that they would have to wrap up. So I just found a beautiful card, wrote a heartfelt message and included the “Amazing Human” ribbon inside. He loved it! And I loved knowing that he may tack it up somewhere in his new office to remind him of the many grateful patients he helped in his old office.
